Since the event’s inception in 2007, more than 20,000 students have joined in the DFW Free Day of Yoga to experience the physical, spiritual, emotional and mental benefits of practicing yoga. Free classes have been offered at over 200 participating studios in communities reaching from Midlothian to Rockwall, from Denton to Weatherford and all points in between. On Labor Day every year from sunrise to sunset attend free yoga all over the DFW metroplex.

In yoga, the element of water is considered not only cooling, but key for steady, balanced expression, and thus, for cultivating harmonious connection with others. In the body, our hips are the seat of the water element, so hip-centered poses allow us to work with the element in asana practice.
In Texas, summer is full of fire element, so in this workshop, we will seek to balance out the fire with a little water, and to help the process, will stay on the ground! The sequence will balance effort with ease, so that you will leave with happy hips and a spring in your step.

Please join Sandra Saturday, June 16th from 1:15-2:45pm for an informative short lecture followed by a gentle yoga practice designed to help you feel better in your low back. This practice is for everybody and designed to support you to feel better with regular practice. This gentle approach emphasizes the breath, simple and repetitive movements, careful sequencing, and the use of yoga as a therapeutic tool. Walk away from practice with ideas to support yourself to feel your best. If you can get up and down off the floor without assistance you can do this practice.
Our beginner program establishes the foundation for a lifelong yoga practice with emphasis on breath work, physical alignment, strength and flexibility. We will allow for plenty of time and assistance each week, and will use props as needed to make each yoga pose work for your body. We will start from the ground up and help you build your practice in a way that helps you establish confidence in your practice.
One of the most widespread postural problems we see today is a forward head posture which is a misaligned relationship between the head and the shoulder girdle, where the head protrudes in front of the shoulder and the upper back rounds.
In this two hour restorative class, we will relax in yoga poses that invoke ease, calm, and help us to rest. When we hold restorative poses with the use of props beneath us, we can more deeply relax and let go. This creates a gentle stretch throughout our bodies, helping us to breathe deeper, and is calming to the central nervous system. Restorative Yoga has been scientifically proven to help relieve us of anxiety, depression, discomfort, & pain. It also rejuvenates our bodies and minds!
The stress and activity of everyday life is often found lodged in the tightness and discomfort of our hips. This workshop will delve deeply into opening the hip area. Much like a lotus flower, the hips cannot be forced or cracked open. But given the right set of circumstances and a patient approach, the hips will release and open like a blooming flower. Many of our negative emotions like to live in places in our bodies where they can hide out: places that get the least amount of stretching and release.

Margie Terrell, E-RYT
Marjorie “Margie” Terrell, e-RYT, is a student of life, has an extensive background in body studies, and is passionate about sharing information as to how yoga brings about a multitude of health benefits physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Through her life experiences as a swim instructor and lifeguard, a certified AFAA fitness instructor, a volleyball player and coach, and a yoga instructor and practitioner, Margie has been able to pass along knowledge of many amazing health benefits to others. Her personal studies include travels around the world, working with indigenous peoples, Disaster Response Team training and deployments, experiencing nature, music, food, and many, many books!
Margie has deepened her yoga understandings by studying with such highly esteemed instructors as Mark Whitwell, Aadil Palkhivala, Dr. Marc Halpern (Ayurveda), Tias and Surya Little, and Gary Kraftsow . She has completed extensive study of spinal integration and incorporation with yoga master, Donna Farhi and has studied yoga anatomy extensively with Iyengar masters Julie Gudmestad and Roger Cole. Margie has also been certified by Dr. Loren Fishman and Ellen Saltonstall to teach Dr. Fishman's "Method of Yoga for Osteoporosis."
Margie recognizes yoga as an exercise in paying attention and enjoys sharing how listening to our bodies, our breath, and our hearts brings about a sense of equanimity and freedom and opens us up to the many possibilities that exist in our world. Sandra Vanatko is owner and visionary of Indra’s Grace. She is a certified IAYT Yoga therapist with over 1700 hours of documented individual yoga therapy cases. Sandra is an experienced student and teacher of Yoga with approximately 10,000 teaching classroom hours. She has trained hundreds of hours and continues to learn, educate, and update her practice and teaching. Known for being a teacher of teachers she is the creative director of Indra's Grace Yoga Alliance

This series takes seniors needs and considerations into class structure. The classes will concentrate on gentle yoga movements and breathing techniques to build strength and stamina, reduce stiffness and increase range of motion. Karenʼs love for yoga surfaced later in life. She began taking lessons with Sandra Vanatko at Indraʼs Grace after retiring with 32 years of service in public education. She quickly became intrigued with the stillness and peace within each movement that yoga brings. Karen earned her RYT-200 certification in February 2013 and her RYT-500 certification in March 2016 from Indraʼs Grace A Yoga and Meditation Studio. She completed Senior Successful Aging Yoga training in March 2015 and Health Breast Cancer Yoga training in May 2017 from YMEDICA. Karen has taught over 500 classes for seniors since becoming an instructor. She is incredibly skilled at serving the senior population. She is committed to bringing compassion, connection, mindfulness, and humor into each of her classes. She strives to make the practice of yoga accessible and welcoming to everyone and believes yoga can be adapted to suit all ages and abilities. Led by Kasey Bell, this workshop will allow participants to learn and practice various forms of self healing. These self healing practices will include intention setting, self hands on energy healing, tips on how to work meditation into your daily life, restorative yoga, and crystal work.

Led by Sabine Estes, this workshop is designed to explore vinyasa yoga off our mat and take a journey beyond our normal boundaries. We will be pushing our limits in this class going outside of the four corners of our mat into a traveling vinyasa flow that takes us all around the studio space. When we take a moment of really get out of our routine we can discover new exciting ways of doing what we have always done, but entirely different! We will explore our internal boundaries and break away from comfort zones, and learn how to share physical and energetic space with fellow yogis. This is a great class for students and teachers to learn fun creative transitions and break away from old habits. This traveling vinyasa flow that moves you forward backward and side to side will challenge your body and mind as we take our asana transitions to a whole new meditative flow.

Each month we will be hosting a skilled, practiced, meditation teacher so that you have the opportunity to begin or deepen your meditation practice with someone experienced in teaching the subject. This is not a series, so you are welcome to any or all of the practices, and no experience is necessary to benefit from and enjoy the sessions. These practices are by donation, and the money will support a local non-profit. This month will benefit The Warm Place.
A Perfect Meditation Practice
Do you have ideas about what would make your meditation practice perfect? In this month’s practice we’ll explore a familiar part of our personality structure* that wants to measure up to some standard of what we think is perfect (or as close to perfect as we can get!). The practice will be useful for beginners who wonder if they are doing it right, and more experienced meditators who are seeking ways to work with the inner critic, who is notorious for robbing us of our serenity. The evening will include an initial guided meditation to help you to tune into your own experience and a longer meditation with instruction and a mudra to evoke serenity. We’ll integrate the practice with group inquiry and conversation.

What is a Facilitator?
Facilitators are women who lovingly share Embody Love Movement’s revolutionary programs in studios, schools, camps, community centers and other non-profit organizations. The workshops that they facilitate focus on emotional expression, exposing media myths, changing the conversation from criticism to kindness, and recognizing self-worth and purpose.

A Guided Process to Certification:
While exhilarating and empowering, facilitating can sometimes be tough. We get it. Holding space for girls and women can bump up against some of our own insecurities. Because of this, our certification process includes a mentoring component. After your training, you will participate in two mentoring sessions with your CF-T so that she can answer any questions that you may have about the process of facilitation, setting up workshops, building community, etc. Our mentoring process gives you the opportunity to grow and learn from the guidance and support of our experienced facilitators.
* Please note that these mentoring sessions will be an additional cost to the training and fees will be paid directly to your CF-T.
Bringing ELM to Your Community:
Once you have participated in Facilitator Training, you will be able to start hosting workshops in your community. You will have the knowledge and skill set to offer various curriculum to various groups of individuals. Your niche will arrive if you let it unfold.
Our financial model allows facilitators the freedom to set their own price for each workshop provided, with the understanding that a percentage of income will be donated back to Embody Love Movement. This model empowers you to draw in what feels right to you and, at the same time, give back to the organization so that we can continue to offer and deliver to the greater whole. Facilitators are also more than welcome to deliver workshops at no cost and volunteer their time. We hold no expectations regarding which path you choose for any given workshop.
